Holiday in HAWORTH - The Heart of Brontë Country
The Pennine village at the heart of Brontë Country where Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre, Emily Wuthering Heights and Anne Agnes Grey.

Where The Railway Children, Yanks - with Richard Gere and Vanessa Redgrave - and Pink Floyd's The Wall were filmed on the steam railway.

Where our terraced weaver's cottage near cobbled Main Street will provide a warm welcome - and a great base for exploring the heather clad Pennines and Yorkshire Dales.

The Cottage

Until the 1920s, wool had been spun and woven since medieval times in Haworth. Sheep survived on the high moors surrounding the village and the peat soil provided England's softest water in fast-flowing streams for washing wool.

The early spinners and weavers worked in their own homes. But from the 1790s, when small factories were built, mill owners provided many terraced cottages for their workers.

Our cottage may be old and small, but it has a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Recently modernised, it has two bedrooms (one double bed and one single bed), an open-plan living room with beamed ceiling, kitchen area with original butler sink, bathroom, WC, a small low cellar and rear enclosed garden.

Activities

In addition to exploring Brontë sites, Haworth is a great place for hill walking, bird watching, cycling and "off-road" mountain biking. Some visitors paraglide, sail, shoot or stalk deer. Nearby stables offer horse-riding and pony-trekking.

Haworth is a great base for the Yorkshire Dales, the industrial village of Saltaire and the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford. Just 12 miles to the south, in Halifax, you find the Eureka experience - often voted as the best attraction for kids in Britain!
